Santana/Phish, Concord Pavilion, Concord, CA, Friday, Aug. 28, 1992

It's now many hours after the concert & noone's posted the set list yet
so I'll furnish my incomplete one... Phish started really early today.
We attempted to enter the Pavilion at 7:48 (for an 8:00 pm show) and they
were already on stage. Unfortunately, we had radio station comps which
needed to be exchanged for actual tickets so we had to wait outside while
my friend Corey ran to the box office to make the switch. I couldn't hear
(what I assumed to be) the first two songs very well, but they sounded
like

Stash
Sweet Adeline a capella

When we actually got inside the venue, we were treated to

The Squirming Coil
Runaway Jim
Rockytop

Santana was great too, as always... pretty much the same setlist
as the reviews of other summer '92 shows I read. Differences: no reggae
tune (though the obligatory reference to Bob Marley was made ;^),
we did get A Love Supreme & Europa as part of the extended encores,
(the first of 2 live A Love Supremes I heard today, the second
being in a jazz bar on Market St. where the band covered Coltrane),
extra special guests (anyone catch the name of the female sax player?)
including 3 young boys on stage drumming during the final encore
(I was reminded of Cameron's gig with Phish @ Stanford). Trey,
Mike, Page, & Fish did come out and jam with Carlos. Fish followed
the female sax player's solo with an ElectroLux solo which was different
than anything I'd heard him do... Like jazz scatting almost.

Anyways, 'nuff said. It's 5:00 am & I need some sleep so I can
make it to the same show at Shoreline Ampitheatre tomorrow ;-)

Carl
