Subject: Oysterhead Toronto Review

Caught Oysterbore....um I mean Oysterhead in Toronto last night. Just
a few points I'd like to make:

1. Stewart Copeland is a *monster* on the drums. He broke about 6-7
sticks
throughout the night hammering on his kit. He's a real blast to watch.

2. Les Claypool is a good bass player, but also very annoying to
watch strutting around the stage. His whiny "vocals" are even
harder to take.

3. Trey played well and had a few good runs. I dug the "Matterhorn"
guitar in which Trey manipulated the antlers in a Theremin like effect.
They seem to be wired cause he'd pass his hands over them creating weird
effects.

4. IMO the weakest link which made the show so dull for me was
the songs themselves. Sure the musicians are top notch, but 90% of
the material seems like pretty weak throwaways. Most of the crowd
seemed to act the same way, waiting for something big to happen.
Unfortunately it never did.

IMO this band is a waste of Trey tremendous talents. I'd much much
rather see him do the Trey Band thing, or if it's still possible
Phish.

I'll be seeing Dylan tonight and hopefully he will redeem last nights
less than thrilling evening for me.
