What a rocking show! The Readers Digest version of the narration in
Col. Forbins -> Mockingbird goes something like:

=================================

Mother nature is a bizzare thing.. Its getting pretty hot in here, but we
all know its really cold outside. And mother nature is not a force that
we can reckon with, for even though the walls are keeping it warm in here,
it is so cold and icy and frigid outside. Even between the cracks in the
doors, the cold is making its way inside. Its getting colder, everyone
is slowing down, as it gets colder..and colder.. your blood begins to
congeal... until finally we are all one big block of ice. Still. Frozen.

But off in the distance, we hear a very large robot (boom) that is taking
(boom) very large footsteps (boom) but not that fast because its a
*really*
big robot (*boom*) and we can feel it getting closer (*Boom*) and the
robot
approaches the diner across the street (*Boom*) and the robot smashes its
foot down on the diner across the street (*Boom*) crushing it to dust. And
the robot comes closer, and smashes the health food store down the street
(*Boom*) and the robot sees a big white truck parked outside, but the
robot doesn't smash the truck because Bob likes the truck. Then the robot
sees a bus, but the robot doesn't smash that either, and it keeps getting
closer, and closer until it's foot is right on top of the Barrymore
theater
and it smashes its foot right down on the frozen block of ice (*BOOM*) and
all that is left is tiny ice particles of dust.

As the robot goes away, we notice a 5000 foot tall broom way off in
the distance (swish) and the broom (swish) is sweeping and getting
closer, until (swish) its right across the street and is sweeps the
remains of the diner (*swish*) and the it sweeps up the health food
store (*swish*) and then it gets closer, and sweeps up the remains of
the Barrymore (*SWISH*) and sends all the dust particles flying, and
they get caught up in the wind, and the wind gets faster and faster,
until we are flying really high where the winds are really fast, and -

I'll bet you never thought about what makes the wind blow, did you?
Well, we keep going and going until we realize that we are headed for
a hollow tube that is sucking in air, and making the wind blow. As we get
closer we see that the tube is really a vaccum cleaner hose, and fishman
is holding on to it! Fishman's vaccum cleaner is making the wind! And
we keep going until we go into the vaccum hose, (*SWHOOSH*) at which
point we begin to come back together as human beings. And we notice that
we're up to our ankles in some liquid - why, it's fishman's spit! We're
ankle deep in saliva inside fishman's vaccum cleaner! We find a raft get
on, flowing with the saliva. There's a waterfall ahead, so we drift down
the
river of saliva, and go over the falls, and then our parachutes open, and
we slowly glide to a soft landing at which point we notice
green fields, and meadows and realize that we are in GAMEHENDGE....

=====================================

Ok, well Reader's digest would have probably made it shorter than that,
but that's pretty much what he came up with! Had me going for a while!
Highlights for me were Lizards (wild jam!), Mikes -> Groove,
Run Like an Antelope (they musta seen my .sig!) and Suzy. Also, Mike's
ball spent a good 2 minutes more in the audience than everybody else's
in the big ball jam, and he was really getting into it!

Well, enough rambling. Suffice it to say, I got my phish phix for a while,
and had a great time in the process!

Take care,
Pete

Caught my first Phish show at a little movie theatre of an auditorium
here in Madtown, WI.

All I can say is WOW!

I'd heard several tapes of the band, and was duely impressed,
but nothing prepared me for the shear energy and intensisty of
the live show.

I showed up early, got a parking spot right accross the street so
I could sit in the car with a tape (Anaconda Theatre, 4-16-92)
going so I could keep an eye on the line. Got an isle seat right
up front and settled in listening to the Jazz and Larie Anderson
on the PA till the show started.

>From the opener (Mike's song?) on I was blown away in a surrender to
the flow of dancing, spinning, smiling joy of the next two hours.
The second set opener stobe light and fog effects were increddible!
Probabally never forget it. And the double encore ending with Hendrix'
Fire was a nice jesture to a warm crowd.

As I said, i was impressed, I have already talked to the tapers so
this isn't a grovel, but if anyone would like to drop me a line
about the show feel free to do so by email. I'll probabally get on
the digest sometime next month after x-mas and finals, but until then
Peace,
