7/2/94 Garden State Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ (Rvwd 1/95) Good show in general, but the Tweezer was definitely
average. The opening lyric segment was wholly standard, and the jam segment starts out very dark and groovy (Tweezeresque).
The funky theme that Trey and the boyz key in on is really very sweet, and Trey does some great stuff with it. I wish the whole
jam developed more strongly out of this sweet-sounding first two mins or so of the jam segment, but, unfortunately, it doesn't.
The jam gets really intense and crazy rather rapidly, but it is frankly just another good Tweezer. The ending isn't ordinary.. it just
fades out, as opposed to the theme slowly dying. Not a typical Tweezer ending, but nothing special. Just over 11 minutes (short
for 1994), so I can't help but give this a 4.0 below average rating (C-). It had the potential to be excellent given the first part of
the jam segment, REALLY EXCELLENT (because this theme was killer), but it just started sounding noisy and careless, in my
opinion. If this is somone's favorite Tweezer, you must acquire more hours. I can't imagine this being anyone's favorite after
having heard so many other versions of this tune. Tweezer Reprise closes the first set, which was really cool (I was at the
show), and caught me off guard, frankly. It was utterly as you have almost always heard it..
